The 'okina makes its debut in the major leagues

Time for a big aloha to Kansas City Royals September callup Kila Ka'aihue, whom I believe is the first major leaguer to sport an 'okina (aka the apostrophe) in his surname.

So don't leave out that glottal stop when saying his last name. And since Ka'aihue had a pretty good year in AA and AAA, you might be hearing his name more.

Bob, what is your connection to Hawai'i. I grew up in Ewa Beach and am always impressed by your knowledge of Hawaiian culture

How does one pronounce the glottal stop?

I've only visited Hawai'i, but I've always found it interesting to read about and the language has interested me a lot.

A glottal stop is sort of like the sound in middle of "uh oh"
