The call on the field is reversed

by Bob Timmermann

For the first time in major league history, a call on the field has been reversed by video replay. Carlos Pena's hit a ball over the right center field fence at Tropicana Field that was originally ruled as fan interference and a ground rule double for Pena.

Upon further review ... the umpires ruled that it was not fan interference and Pena was given a home run. This changed the score from 7-0 Rays to 9-0 Rays.

I guess Jeffrey Maier isn't as good a fielder as he used to be.

The annoying thing is that Gameday has a video clip of the umpires reversing the decision, but doesn't have a clip of the play, itself.
