Time for another edition of 'Home Run Derby'
2006-07-03 16:05
by Bob Timmermann

Hello, this is Mark Scott, welcoming you to Home Run Derby!

This year's contestants should be: David Ortiz, Ryan Howard, David Wright, Jermaine Dye, and Troy Glaus!

Oh and three other guys that they haven't been able to sucker in to this yet.

Carlos Zambrano says he's up for it.

No Soriano? But he's got a big fat contract to earn.

He started auditioning tonight.

From the story:

That still left numerous other Derby candidates, including Boston's Manny Ramirez; Alex Rodriguez of the Yankees; Vladimir Guerrero of the Angels; Paul Konerko and Dye of the White Sox; Houston's Lance Berkman; Albert Pujols and Scott Rolen of St. Louis; Washington's Alfonso Soriano; Carlos Beltran of the Mets; Atlanta's Andruw Jones; Colorado's Matt Holliday and Philadelphia's Chase Utley.

What, you think you can just put a link up there and we'll click it?

Apparently, you misunderstand this whole "blog" thing.

Pujols, ARod, Soriano.

And Howard will top Abreu's 41.

And after Howard breaks Abreu's mark, Phillies fans will hate him for the rest of his career.

I don't think people take the HR derby as seriously as it deserves to be. Clearly, the league of the winning player should get home field advantage in the World Series.

10 Sorry, Andrew, but apparently you haven't been reading the news. The winner of the home run derby plays the slam dunk winner and NHL skills winner in a Reaux Sham Beaux contest to decide who hosts the next WNBA all-star game.
