The Angels beat Tampa Bay 8-4 in St. Petersburg, while the Athletics lost to Boston 7-3 at home.

So the Angels and Athletics are tied for first in the AL West at 51-48.

I took my father to the A's game for his birthday. He grew up in Red Sox Nation (southern Maine) and we have been seeing the Red Sox when the play the A's since I was a little kid. Manny and Ortiz went deep, Papelbon pitched in the ninth, and the Red Sox won. Happy Birthday Dad!

Happy birthday to him as well.

I will be in your fair city this weekend.

A little stroll around memory lane..perhaps a visit to Moe's, Top Dog, etc? Alas, Cody's is no longer with us.

Actually, I'm planning to spend money at the places I was too poor to visit as a grad student: Chez Panisse for starters.

I think I may go to Bette's Ocean View Diner only because when I lived there, I could never get a table there. I have no idea if the food is good.

I've been to Bette's and the breakfast is very good. If you are going on the weekend, be there right when it opens in order to get a seat.
