Battle Creek, Michigan bids adieu to its minor league team, the Southwest Michigan Devil Rays, an A level team in the Midwest League.

The team, which for a time was known as the Michigan Battle Cats, is being moved to Midland, Michigan.

No more confusion for me regarding the West Michigan and Southwest Michigan teams. At first I was afraid the third stadium sponsered by Fifth Third Bank would disappear, but fortunately that's West Michigan's ballpark.

Now the A's should swap Midwest League affiliates with the Rays. Then the A's could promote someone from Midland up to Midland.

2 Unfortunately, the new team will be known as the Great Lake Loons.

Also, this site may be of some interest for those curious about teams switching/continuing minor league affiliations this year:

Bob says you're the baseball guru here, we had a San Bernandino Dodger affiliate right?

Hey, I know the answer to that question.

It's yes! The Dodgers used to have a Cal League team in San Bernardino. The team now goes by "Inland Empire".

The Dodgers gave it up because you weren't allowed to have two High A league teams I believe and the Dodgers own the Vero Beach team.
