Baltimore became the third team mathematically eliminated from playoff contention. The Orioles were eliminated from AL East contention after losing to the Yankees in the afternoon. Then later in the evening, the top two teams for the wild card, Minnesota and Chicago both won.

The Orioles cannot win more than 83 games. The Twins and White Sox both have 82 wins and one of them has to finish with 84 wins since they play each other three more times.

The Cubs are next in line to be eliminated, but they will still be alive after Sunday regardless of what happens.

Well, what better post to link off to my Orioles fan buddy (yes, they exist) and my Cubs fan buddy.

I figured out the Cubs wrong and checking the RIOT number site, I discovered that the Cubs are goners if they lose today.
