shorten the season, shorten the playoffs, or somehow get the season over by mid October at the latest. It's going to be 80 and sunny today. vr, Xei

They deserve this for making the season so long. If your going to have such a long postseason you either shorten the season or shorten spring training. I guess this wasn't considered when the new CBA was being discussed.

A rainout tonight would create all sorts of interesting pitching matchup possiblities for the last 4 games.

Bob, I see where your brother and his cohorts have gotten the Cardinals in trouble over their spartan media amenities. :)

1 More double-headers!

What if they had a "safety" venue each year for the World Series? If they haven't gotten five games in by a certain date, the final games all happen in LA, Arizona, SD, or another park with a dome or retractable roof.

I mean, what a shock, the weather in St. Louis is lousy around Halloween. That's only been true for 200 years.

That is a novel idea. But how embarrassing would it be for baseball if the stadium was only 1/2 filled in LA when the Cardinals were playing Detroit. Cold weather is a killer for baseball. In football your always moving but in baseball you could freeze to death in CF waiting for Traschel to make a pitch in October.

10 you do like they do in theater. You paper the house. Give 20,000 tickets to the mayor to distribute to youth groups, senior citizen centers, etc. The attendees will still buy some hot dogs, so it wouldn't be a total loss. Plus, in a city like LA, there are probably enough fans of their old hometown teams to get a decent cheer going.

This world series really blows, though. Not because the teams are from smaller cities, but because it seems so obvious this year we're not seeing anything close to high-caliber teams.

This is such a stupid argument though. I mean, consider that the Pinnacle of Human Achievement, otherwise known as the "2000 Subway Series", pitted a Wild Card winner against a team with 87 regular-season wins. Or that what many consider one of the greatest Series's ever was a matchup of two teams that had each finished LAST the year before.

It's the World Series!! It's your DUTY to watch it!
