Free agents that is. This is the latest compilation of names. Players have until Veterans Day to file. Those who are unclear on punctuation have until Veteran's Day. Why don't we just go back to Armistice Day?

I was always a fan of Decoration Day myself. And not just because it's the title of a great album.

And what about Patriots Day?

But Decoration Day is in May.

I do always try for a moment of silence at 11 AM on Armistice Day. Although I do prefer "Armistice Day" to "Veteran's", the South African "Poppy Day" is pretty evocatively cool.

"In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below."

Here's a link to a Japan Times story about Seibu allowing Matsuzaka to be posted.

The article notes that the bidding could reach $30 million and that Boras wants a contract starting at 10 mil a year.

3 My mother has memories of poppies being distributed and worn in this country, but that tradition seems to have gone by-the-by in the US. I was in London on November 11 once, and the number of paper poppies I saw was enormous.
