The Hall of Fame voters have spoken! And they like suffixes!

And for 2007, it will be:
Cal Ripken
Tony Gwynn

To be precise, that's Cal Ripken, Jr., and Tony Gwynn, Sr.

Just wanted to clear that up.

Better luck next time for:
Bert Blyleven
Alan Trammell
Mark McGwire
Rich Gossage
among others.

who are allowed entrance in to Cooperstown's wing of bronze plaques. Tommy McCarthy welcomes them!

A) Did Blyleven's total actually go down, despite Rich Lederer's post about voters he had convinced?

B)Gossage should be a lock for next year.

C)Does Jerry Costanza have a vote? That's the only person I can think of who would vote for Jay Buhner...

Bad joke, you'd think Bert was Belle given the lack of respect he's being accorded.

6 Amen. I meant to post that site awhile back. This is ridiculous.

Paul Ladewski should be fired.

Obviously Ripken is in because of the Gehrig streak, but Alan Trammell's numbers match up pretty well with Cal's.

His career OPS+ is 110 to Ripken's 112, for example.

But I've been hopelessly arguing for the Trammell/Lou Whitaker combo to get inducted for awhile now. For some reason, I always liked those guys.

Ripken would be in even if he sat out every 200th game.

Just because everyone liked his pretty blue eyes.

I almost wish something would come out about Blyleven, something like he eats Jewish babies or something, so that I could feel better about the fact that he hasn't gotten in, and stop worrying about it.

Maybe he and Sutton could swap places ....

There should be an HOF death squad, removing the unworthies the BBWAA bequeathed us.
