NL Cy Young Award

by Bob Timmermann

I predict that after 11 am PT, you can click on this link and you will find out:

  1. the green background hurts your eyes
  2. Jake Peavy got every first place vote for the NL Cy Young Award.

If some voter didn't name Peavy first, then someone's going to have to do some explaining.

Maybe they didn't like the way he pitched against the Rockies in the most important game of the year. And it counted as a regular season game.

Which would make the alternative to Peavy....

Brandon Webb?
Brad Penny?
Kyle Kendrick?

1 Well, let's see, if you're going to pick and choose single late season starts to form an opinion about a 34-start season, Brandon Webb, who's Peavy's only legitimate competition, lost consecutive starts to the Padres and Rockies as August turned into September. Those games just weren't on national TV.

Although the Rockies-Padres playoff game gave us the new adjective: un-Jake Peavy-like

Bob does it again.
Player 1st 2nd 3rd
Jake Peavy 32 — —
Brandon Webb — 31 1

Yea for Jeff Francis though. He got a solitary 3rd place nod.

Bob asked for an arguement, it was the only one I could come up with. The guys who vote on these things aren't the brightest bulbs as Colon and 2005 is evidence.

I don't want an argument. I want people to agree with everything I say without question!

7 Yes sir.

I definitely agree with you on the green background. That is some nasty stuff.

Are you sure you wouldn't like to have an argument?

4 I thought it was very Jake Peavy like. It was eerily similar to his two playoff games.

I'll take him for the first six months
