We interrupt nothing in particular to bring you this scene of "nature" as I was on a leaf-peeping tour of my own neighborhood.

The "native" trees are something to see aren't they?

Yes, it's always full of tourists this time of year too.

I love the juxtaposition. I know palm trees aren't native to SoCal at all--where are liquid amber from? It would be ironic if they originate from somewhere closer than the palms do.

They come from the Deep South.

I noticed the same trees in Eagle Rock over the weekend. The only native tree that I know of that changes color and loses its leaves is the sycamore.

The fall color in NC is amazing this year. I suspect we have the drought to thank.

I can't look at leaves anymore without thinking of Gene Hackman in "Birdcage."

Beautiful picture of my favorite time of year in Los Angeles.

As opposed to rush hour commuters the rest of the year?

Beautiful color. And the picture made me think of The Wire episode from Curb.

5 - where they are know as sweet gum trees. I pointed one out to my Arkansan wife, and she immediately corrected me.

I noticed some liquidambar trees in Pomona yesterday and their leaves had just barely begun to turn. Is the weather that much different from Pomona to Pasadena?

We had an early frost here this year.

Seriously, I don't know. You could walk down another street and the trees would be a different color. They were a different color on the other side of the street, but there was no palm tree in the shot.
