HOF Veterans Committee picks 10 nominees

The always popular Baseball Hall of Fame Veterans Committee announced its 10 nominees from its Historical Overview panel. These players all played in the 1942 season or earlier.

The nominees are: Bucky Walters, Joe Gordon, Allie Reynolds, Wes Ferrell, Carl Mays, Mickey Vernon, Bill Dahlen, Sherry Magee, and Deacon White.

There will be another 10 nominees who played from 1943 on announced later.

The election will take place on December 8.

Joe Gordon and Bill Dahlen are obvious Hall omissions. I wouldn't really advocate any of the other eight.

I was looking up Mickey Vernon in B-R and before I got to the end I thought to myself, "I bet he's comparable to Mark Grace."

Wes Ferrell was a better hitter than his brother Rick.

Of course, I consider brother Rick to be the worst HOF choice ever.
