At least the Rays have had a relatively short period of post-season futility. The Rangers haven't made it to the post-season in 47 seasons (counting the Washington Senators era). That's sad.
Sorry I should say "haven't won a post-season series" instead of "haven't made it to the post-season". Of course the Rangers were in the post-season several times in the mid to late 90s.
Huh, didn't realize they played a best of five series in '81.
My folks had the last four seats in left field in the reserve section at Dodger stadium for one of those games, I think the tickets are somewhere around the house, still.
Man, looking at those four teams which have waited longer than the Dodgers is depressing. Those are pretty much the Sad Sacks of baseball, and to think we're down at that level...
Right, but the criteria for making this list treats perenniel also-rans the same as teams that have been successful but lousy in the post-season. It's been a rough couple of decades, but we've at least tasted some success in the regular season which, to me, counts for more.
The Rangers stand alone. Teams have been falling off the list rapidly in the past few years... will next year be the year that the Rangers are no longer still waiting?
Was it that long ago the Pirates were relevant? I knew Bonds blew in the postseason for the Pirates but I thought the B&B boys had at least won a Division series or something.

Sure, what does Milton care. The odds are high he will have taken his act somewhere else once again. Maybe he can play LF and replace Burrel thus giving the Phillies the 2004 Dodger outfield if Depo hadn't had a brain cramp. Not that Shane would have been playing in the 2004 outfield but the point stands.

It certainly doesn't seem that long ago that Bonds couldn't throw out Sid Bream. The Pirates missed out on the division series by a couple years (first year would have been 1994).

Signs point to no.
Congrats to the Division Series champion Rays!

Besides, if we're making a list of ballplayers who probably want to punch me in the nose, Milton Bradley can get in line behind Juan Pierre.
What's more, this thread will still be alive next year. If the Rangers win a postseason series, I'll be eating some crow.
