Todd Cruz, 1955-2008

by Bob Timmermann

Todd Cruz, an infielder who played for six different big league teams in a six year big league career, died Tuesday while swimming at his apartment complex in Bullhead City, Arizona.

Cruz's career was highlighted by being a member of the 1983 Orioles World Series championship team. That Orioles team never could settle on a regular third baseman and used Cruz along with Leo Hernandez, Aurelio Rodriguez, Glenn Gulliver, and cameo appearances by Rich Dauer and Gary Roenicke.
