Paul Schaffer of the Dayton Daily News wants Paul DePodesta or a similar type to be the new GM of the Reds.

Somehow I doubt Cincinnati is the place for the Moneyball wars to be fought again.

I waited a long time to respond to this, but why don't you think we (Cincinnati) couldn't receive DePodesta any better than a sprawling metropolis like L.A.?

Well you couldn't receive DePo any worse than Los Angeles did thats for sure.

I wasn't clear, but I was thinking of the Reds organization's traditional conservatism.

We have new ownerership, they say they want to win, do you think the candidate's they have identified are conservative choices? I don't know anything about them. As far as the fans go I think with the failure of the Milton signing we're ready to embrace a statistically minded GM if he can identify pitchers who can succeed in GABP.

I hope the Reds hire someone who is forward thinking. The organization needs it.
