2006-02-03 15:37
by Bob Timmermann

Live from Maracay!

Francisco Campos on the hill for Mexico, Julian Tavarez pitching for the Dominican Republic.

And the Dominican Republic wins 10-6, thanks to a six-run fifth capped off by a 3-run homer by Miguel Tejada. Mexico has given up 27 runs in its first two games.

Venezuela vs Puerto Rico next!

Red Sox fans are now beginning to wonder about the acquisition of Julian Tavarez as it's 4-0 Mexico in the third.

Sound the alarm. Panic and vomit on Yawkey Way.
Man the bucket brigades! Sox fans are burning the city, and demanding trades!

The pitcher for Mexico, Francisco Campos, says he wants a shot at the majors. He's 33, but he's got a cool nickname "Poncho Ponches" (Poncho Strikeouts, sounds a lot better in Spanish doesn't it?)

Campos gave up 7 runs in 5 1/3 IP, so I doubt that he's get a spring training invite now.

It's DR 8, Mexico 6 after 7 1/2
