Sturtze to the DL....
2006-05-14 09:06
by Bob Timmermann

Sorry for infringing on Bronx Banter territory here, but the Yankees have put struggling reliever Tanyon Sturtze on the disabled list.

To replace him, the Yankees have recalled...

Yes .....

Him .....

The guy ....

The inimitable...

The indefatigable...

The pitcher who cannot be killed ....

Yes....

He's Coming to the Bronx ....

Scott Erickson

Yikes! And here I thought the Dodger bullpen situation was ugly.

I always confuse Scott Erickson with Scott McGregor. Erickson won more games (142) than McGregor (138) and both have 20-8 seasons to their credit. McGregor had a better win percentage. As for the Yankees, I'd rather see Guidry activated than Erickson.

And the A's look to be taking BP on Randy Johnson today. Erickson has been shown to be stretching in the bullpen.

Speaking of reincarnation: from the WaPo today we come across this sentence in a profile of Mary McCarthy (the fired CIA IG officer):

"McCarthy declined to be interviewed for this article, and her attorney, Ty Cobb, said the CIA has precluded him from discussing what McCarthy said in CIA interviews and polygraph examinations between February and April 18."

Ty Cobb?

Heh, yeah Ty Cobb. Cool.

Erickson's epitaph is soooooo going to read "I'll always have 1991"
