Girardi misses Marlins game to look after pregnant wife
2006-08-29 16:56
by Bob Timmermann

Marlins manager Joe Girardi is not with his team in St. Louis as he has decided to stay back in Florida with his wife, Kim, who is pregnant with the couple's third child. Girardi was concerned about complications with Tropical Storm Ernesto. Gary Tuck is in charge of the team.

The rest of the Marlins players brought their families with them on the trip if they so chose.

I don't know if any left their families back in Florida, but the Marlins players are young so many of them don't have families.

"...who is pregnant with the couple's third child. Girardi was concerned about complications with Tropical Storm Ernesto."

The kid's not even born and they've already named him T.S. Ernesto?

Man, ultrasound is really somethin'.

This is sorta Toaster-meta rather than Girardi-relevant, but as of today I can no longer access the Griddle at my employer. My employer uses Websense to filter sites, and today the Griddle ran afoul of it. Maybe it was caught up in a general Websense update, since other things that worked yesterday (the Griddle, Google Images, etc.) didn't work today, or maybe my employer is just on to me. I didn't try out the other Toaster sites after getting the nasty Websense "this goes on your permanent record card" message.

Anyway, it's the end of an era of lunchtime reading at my desk for me. I'll be forced to buy a newspaper or something, eep.

It must have been my constant linking to articles about Wayne Krivsky acquiring middle relievers for the Reds.

You have a warped sense of literalist humor.

I LIKE that in a person! :-)

Living in hurricane waters, I've actually looked at the rotation for storm names. Eliot is not on the list.

Shame, that.
