Extra Innings is on the tip of everyone's tongue
2007-01-24 21:04
by Bob Timmermann

I was going to try to summarize some of what has been written over the potential move of the MLB Extra Innings package to DirecTV exclusively (which has not yet been announced officially.)

Fortunately, Maury Brown cumulated a lot of it on his site, including Joe Sheehan's article in BP that argued that it was no big deal.

Bad Altitude is agin' it.

Jayson Stark (Insider only) is agin' it.

John Donovan of SI.com is agin' it.

Well, if nobody else will say it, I will: I'm all for it!

I basically agree with Sheehan. It would be nice to be able to have it but Charter Cable hasn't offered it where I live the last two years anyway so I'll just stick with MLB.TV

I don't think Sheehan said no big deal - I think he said what people complain about won't change their decision - they always grab the larger revenue amount.

He laid out why they won't care (basically the impacted people won't stop consuming baseball product).
