And there were just 12

The Milwaukee Brewers were carrying 14 pitchers for a week in April. But then the number dropped to 13 when Mike Cameron's suspension ended and Dave Bush was sent to the minors.

And now, reliever Derrick Turnbow has been designated for assignment and outfielder Joe Dillon has been called up to replace him. Turnbow had an ERA of 15.63 in eight games.

Turnbow was my favorite for a while with the Angels -- a guy out of nowhere who pitched pretty well, then had one absolutely brilliant year for the Brewers.

Its VERY hard to give up 25 baserunners in 6.1 innings ....

I choose to remember him for what he was, not for what he is today. :-)

He killed my fantasy ERA, too. Speaking of erratic pitchers: old friend Jeff Weaver allowed four runs on six hits over five innings while pitching for the Nashville Sounds in Nashville.

2 I could do it. Especially for $3.2M.

And now Yovani Gallardo has torn his ACL, likely requiring surgery. So there goes another pitcher.

Maybe the Brewers' gimmick can be that they weave back and forth from one extreme to another with pitchers -- one week, they carry 14 pitchers, the next week 6, maybe 20 pitchers the week after that.
