Spain might have beaten Russia 4-1 in their first meeting in this tournament, but most people expect an exciting match tonight in Vienna.
The Spanish advanced on penalties after a scoreless draw with Italy. But the Russians surprised the tournament's top scoring team, the Netherlands, with a 3-1 win in extra time.
The winner faces Germany in Sunday's finale in Vienna. The Germans did their best King John Sobieski impression in defeating the Turks 3-2 in the other semi.
Spain leads the all-time series 5-1-3. The lone Russian win came in 1971 in a Euro qualifier.
I'm guessing that Francisco Franco wasn't too keen on scheduling Spain against the USSR and vice versa.
5. Are you basing that assessment on the the teams have looked so far, or just on historical records? Outside of the quarterfinals, Spain has looked like a much better team than Germany for the whole tournament. The only reason I would favor Germany is history.
6 Well, there's also the fact that Germany are the masters of being just good enough to get the result. They're sort of like water in that they always manage to find the crack.
7. Well yeah, but that doesn't lead to the conclusion that they will CRUSH Spain. I'd say that the biggest reason may be if you expect the final to be a replay of the Germany/Portugal game, but I feel that Spain is tougher than Portugal and should be at least a little better.

Maybe the second half will have something in it?
