Dmitri and Delmon Young: the movie
2008-09-12 07:34
by Bob Timmermann

Joe Weisman of Dodger Thoughts and Variety and star of a 2-minute piece on the KCAL Evening News passes on this article from Variety about MLB getting into the film production business and debuting a documentary at the U.S. Sports Film Festival in Philadelphia.

"We Are Young," which gets a double run at the fest in Philadelphia on Oct. 23, the first day of the three-day event, concerns Dmitri Young, a talented Major Leaguer who was arrested for beating his wife and has gone through alcohol rehab, and his younger brother Delman [sic], another baseball talent suspended for 50 games in 2006 for throwing a bat at the umpire in a Triple-A game.

Also, another project you've been waiting for: who would be the ideal sportswriter to pair up with Carl Hiaasen for an HBO series? Mike Lupica, of course!

I'm waiting for Larry McMurtry to pair up with Bill Plaschke. There'd be one actor who wouldn't have to member any lines other than saying "Indeed!"
