The Exxon Kasten runs aground of environmentalists
2008-09-12 07:47
by Bob Timmermann

From the Wall Street Journal comes news that an environmental group is going to picket outside Nationals Park on Monday to protest the team using ExxonMobil as a sponsor even though the stadium proclaims that it is certified as "green."

“Strike Out Exxon,” the campaign behind Monday’s protest, also wants the Nationals’ owners to guarantee the park will never take on that corporate moniker and become “ExxonMobil Stadium.”

The Nats will be playing the Mets on Monday night. I'm sure the Mets fans at the game will take note of the protest and mention that their team's new park will be named for a huge banking and financial services company.

Any bets on how many of these protesters drive there by themselves and/or in an SUV, from their 1.2 acre, 3,000 s/f eyesores in the burbs?

I wonder what the carbon footprint of the scoreboard/video screen is?
