I like both sets of radio announcers. The Phils have Harry Callas, whose voice you may remember from a million sports related commercials, and the Brewers have Bob Uecker.
Uecker ranks only second to Vinny for me. Which isn't saying much since it doesn't take much to be above the rest of the dreck.
How about Gallardo coming back so quickly. I hope they don't kill him because they are desperate for pitching. It is to bad for them they are going to lose CC and Sheets because that would have been a trio of terror in 09. I loved Gallardo's stuff before the surgery.
I'll wager I've seen more Phillies highlights than anyone else not from Philadelphia discussing this game on the Griddle, because Shane Victorino is from Maui and our local sportscasters are homers of the first order.
I was waiting in line at will call at Dodger Stadium and a man I believed to be Ryan Howard's brother was behind me. He had on a credential that had his name "something Howard" and he was a rather large man too.
The rally towels have jumped the shark (except for Pittsburgh football games). Just for once could we give all the fans rubber chickens as they come in through the gates for postseason games? Seriously, I have an entire drawer of "OctobeR" towels from last year I'm never going to use again.
I think I will go watch this game at the pizza place on 6th Street. The Indian guys who run it always have one TV showing a sporting event at lunch time and they always had the playoffs on last year.
The Carl's Jr. across the street tends to show daytime courtroom programs.
17 A former colleague of mine went to high school with Ryan Howard in St. Louis, and said he was actually a better basketball player back then. And that he had a brother who was even bigger.
Too bad Weeks miffed that play. The Brewers' ability to demolish LHP has really seemed to disappear the last couple of months.
33 - people ask me all the time how I can live in Orange County and not be an Angels fan. Well, I would like to mark this as Exhibit #4562188734 for the defense.
I don't know if I can even watch that Angels-Red Sox series, as g ood as it may prove to be. Between the Angels fans and all the noise gimmicks and my tiring of the Red Sox, I may have to skip it, or at least watch with the sound off. First the Angels try to co-opt LA, and now this. Feh.
42 Error would have been the third out, all subsequent runs are unearned. I never liked this rule.
I always confuse Dane Cook, who isn't funny, with Dax Shepherd, who is kinda funny. "Let's Go to Prison" was a good movie, and he was funny in "Baby Mama" too. But they are two different distinct people, I believe.
It was absolutely pouring here for about 15 minutes around 3:30. I was in a meeting, but I don't think they delayed the game then. It's hardly raining now.
Lidge has been craftier than I'm used to seeing him in this inning, taking stuff off of pitches and putting them in weird places instead of just blasting fastball-slider. But he's had to be.
Couldn't post this til now, but, sorry, I had to laugh -- when Lidge was pitching to Fielder, he had a pitch a foot and a half off the plate outside and fans were booing the ump's call. I know all teams have fans boo balls and strikes but that was so far outside I was wondering if maybe the rain was affecting their vision? Maybe that's it.
Kalas is better on football.
Uecker is great for baseball. I listened to him on mlb.com radio all year.

I wonder if Aaron Rowand is happy counting his money while watching this on TV.
The Howard family of St. Louis grows 'em big.
I still get choked up when he says "The Indians win it, the Indians win it, oh my God the Indians win it!!!"
Listen to the Brewers' broadcast. Even if it's nothing but dead air and farm reports.
The Carl's Jr. across the street tends to show daytime courtroom programs.
Your Carl's Jr. has a television? What a time to be alive.
Hmmm .... we have Asians that make Mexican food. You have Indian guys making pizza.
Is the pizza any good?

My personal favorite was after cussing on the air and being told he can't say that, he responds with, "Like anyone is listening anyway."

I can see the headlines now ...
"BoSox beaten down by the clap"
"Clap On! Clap Off!"
i still like the NY back page about 20 years ago when david cone threw a stinker: "Cone Takes A Licking"
If they can somehow have a rally monkey that can wave a towel while clapping that clapper .... THEN you'll really have something (annoying)
I guess that's better than "Chhattisgarh Pizza Kitchen"...
but no Dane Cook this year .... phew.
TBS: "Very funny." Someone must have spent several challenging minutes coming up with that slogan.
They did just mention him for that comedy festival.
See, it doesn't work for TBS.
Despite sharing the same name, I can honestly say I've never seen anything by Dane Cook. Is that a good thing?
Bearable.
Unless you are a 15 year old girl, it is a good thing.

Dax Shepard = guy from Jackass
Dane Cook = jackass
Nm, Dax was from Punk'd. Screw that show.

Well, so much for this being a long game... Unless that rain hits soon.
77 Probably show something "very funny."
Sveum. Sveum Sveum Sveum.
If Lidge blows this one the research department and I have determined that he loses 60% of his clutchiness. At least.
My brother Jim beat me by 1/2 point. Sam DC's son finished in sixth, beating out his father for last.
That was for a fantasy league? I thought Bob wore the child abuser jacket like that guy in the bad commercial.

Anyway, congrats to the Phils.

Always love that video.
