If Tampa Bay goes with any other pitchers than Garza - Price - Sonnannstinne, they'll have an awfully long offseason to think about what they would have done differently...
If things hold as they are, this could be one of the greatest days in the storied history of Tampa Bay sports, next to their SB win. (Bucs are winning tonight as well, in the area's second best sports event of the evening.)
If things hold as they are, this could be one of the greatest days in the storied history of Tampa Bay sports, next to their SB win and the Stanley Cup, and the arrival of Henry B. Plant's railroad.
9 more outs before the 150:1s arrive, or Steve Harvey does, whichever comes first.
Btw, the second Futurama movie is on Comedy Central tonight at 8 (here on the West Coast) if you're interested. Liked the first movie better but it's fun enough.
149 As an Aussie I am hoping for redemption for him tonight. We have not had a good relief pitcher since Lloyd for the Yankees. Could whet the sports media appetite here if he makes it to the series.
182 that's the IPL. They are playing test cricket (the 5 day game) at the moment. It's the form of the game I really love; don't care much for the short version.
284 , Hazleton Joe Maddon told them in spring training that 9 = 8, aka nine players doing their best would get them into one of 8 playoff spots. Now there are only two spots left...and the RAYS are one of them!!!!
I think the WS is gonna by fun, seriously, this is what it's all about, I don't fallow other teams but who would have thought the Rays would make it all-the-way, I really think there story is WAY more compelling then another red sox WS. I love it!!
Welp, we know this. Somebody is going to win their first World Series in at least a decade. I'm just so glad to see the Empire go down. I don't just mean the Red Sox, I mean Boston Sports!!
What a great year for Tampa Bay. Congratulations to all the players, the coaches, the broadcasters, and everyone who makes this organization run.
I went to pick up some things at the store and finished the game on satellite radio with the Tampa Bay broadcasters. That was a great moment. I made sure to record the game on DVR too, so I got to see the final out for myself.
It was a $20 bet, split into four $5 bets, as to avoid paying taxes upon collection time. 150x20=$3000, but I am not counting my chickens yet, but I have them all lined up and have given each one a name.
vr, Xei
I could put money on the Phillies to win the World Series now and gaurantee myself around $1500 depending on who is favored of course. I think that would be bad karma though. And since I made it this far, why not go for the gusto!
vr, Xei
All right Xei!!! First of all, a belated welcome back! I'm glad to have you back on the toaster.
Secondly, good luck to you in the World Series. At least going in, you have to figure the Rays will take this series in 5. The Phillies have only one very good starter. The Rays have a pretty good, complete rotation to work with. The Phils also have a long layoff, not unlike the Rockies did last year.

Actually, they're showing a commercial now.
Cal Ripken favors Tampa Bay. Harold Reynolds and Dennis Ecksersley dissent.
Anyone else with the same problem? I'm with Time Warner Cable - South Bay.
Especially Youkilis.
But I'm nominally nonpartisan.
Unless they're in the World Series.
Jason Bartlett was hit twice last night.
There you go.
The Dodgers have a stupid GM.
Do some math, if you feel like it.
Who de What?
I hope the score stays 1-0 until the 8th inning. That could get really exciting!
Even Bill Bergen got more hits than that.
Afraid of hurting his feelings...?
I know I am.
Jason Varitek's feelings are worth at least a 3 year/$24 million deal.
Varitek is no doubt skilled at farding.
Unshackled from Rule 9!
But I doubt they miss Julio Lugo.
Jon hates The Griddle for its freedom.
a) Dustin Pedroia
b) Kevin Youkilis
c) B.J. Upton
d) The field
JD Drew?
it gets on your nerves cause you think he's a pull hitter but low & behold he pocks it to right field as well... frustrating.
No, he also starts his right hand 1/2 way up the bat while it is over his head. The whole ab is interesting in it's uniqueness.
I blame the slanted roof of the Trop.
Ahhhh it feels good to let it out.
Wow, what a deal.
I bet this year that the steal will happen in Game 1.
Except his name isn't Jonathan.
Thank you for playing a good Game 7 so far.
Sincerely,
Bob Timmermann
cc: Russ Ortiz
So, I'm betting that this series ends with Kevin Cash going deep on Dan Wheeler in the 9th and BJ Upton watching strike three.
I'm just going with Griddle Classic here.
I always thought Jon's full name was Jonathan for some reason.
you learn something new everyday...
2005 Dodgers team reunion!
I don't know how I feel about this.
"Opinion: It's do or die for the Red Sox and Rays"
That's a bold opinion.
Chip Caray is obsessed with two out hits though.
This inning, of course, will just make the Red Sox victory that much more painful.
He just noted Game 7 is pivotal. I'll say.
Only one team has ever lost a Game 7 in a best of seven series and still won the series.
The 1912 Red Sox.
For this series it was:
1) 11 season ticket holders
2) Dick Vitale
3) Governor Charlie Crist
4) Don Zimmer
They're going to have to start calling on players for the Lightning and Bucs.
The Red Sox are 1 for their last 25 with two strikes.
Try striking out with a 1-1 count.
Right, he was third. They needed the third worst record in baseball. If those other teams didn't have brain rot, they would've had him at 1 or 2.
Long live John McKay
{duck}
Be careful. There's somebody commenting here who has voted for the Lady Byng Trophy.

Let the record reflect that I was way ahead of the curve on that joke:

I would assume he would go to Okajima/Masterson/Papelbon after this.
When DeWitt's 25 I would like for him to Hit .326 with 54 doubles and 17 home runs with a 123 OPS
I predict that the Rays will get at least 27 outs in this game.
Unlike in Game 5.
...is what I said two batters ago.
Freakin' Tampa Bay could get championships in three sports within a decade? What is Pro Sports coming to? :)
Technical difficulties TM
I would think he would unfamiliar to most of the Red Sox hitters.
* Special note: can a pitcher whose name sounds like Ball Four be trusted?
And we can say we knew him when...
As a kid, we had a 1964 Encyclopaedia Britannica and volume 2 I believe started with "Balfour."
[runs]
That's what I mean by staying back!
So what's Monday afternoon like? Do I need to wear a jacket?
mebbe not.
ooo Bartlett, is it too late to put Tim Beckham on the roster?
Great game, btw, for Matt Garza... wonderful pitching performance amidst high stakes!
Well, it would have been a glorious World Series. Maybe next year.
But that's when men were men.
The most in the Aughts is 142 by Al Leiter in Game 5 of the 2000 World Series.
The new league with the cheesy uniforms and tons of sexual images in their commercials?
Joe Maddon is reminding me of another Joe who shall be nameless.
I am depressed by the turn this game has taken.
that's part of the reason I wanted to take a hiatus from baseball...
But that doesn't take into account pixie dust.
I guess using Wheeler to start wasn't so bad. On the other hand Wheeler got away with one on the last pitch.
Ought to keep BRO at peace...
for a day.
Unless Francona wants to give him a lot of rest.
dumb move if you ask me, he would have been safe.
Yeah - the third replay angle surprised me
Yes
In the 8th inning.
Of Game 5.
The Yankees also did it in the 8th inning of Game 5 of the ALCS against the Red Sox.
The Royals used five pitcher in the 6th inning of Game 3 of the ALCS against the Yankees.
Any money on a passed ball - wild pitch - throwing error - walk here?
WOOTS!
Please... He is no James McDonald. ; )
Is there a variety of excruciating that isn't so painful?
3 more outs...
Pittsburgh, 1992.
Drew looked lost up there anyways. Man, that dude throws serious cheese man.
not very
"straight to video" comes to mind
Price is the closer tonight at least.
It's not like the Red Sox have a lot of right handed power on the bench.
Will David Ross bat for Varitek?
Some stupid song some guy made for the Rays.
I think it is called "Beat the Heat".
Stupid athlete speaking in complete sentences!
$$$$$$$ vr, Xei $$$$$$
Hamels vs. Kazmir?
The Sox lost Game 3 of the ALDS in 2005 to Chicago.
Rays in the World Series!! WOO HOO.

Could have quite the early advantage on winning the division.

Should be fun!
hahahahahahahahah... I think I'd be less excited if it weren't the Red Sox being eliminated. I'm hoping it carries over to the NBA too.
Just think of it as the NL West.
Actually, that is the NFC West.
