Sunday Night Baseball on ESPN now promises to be even worse

Newsday's Neil Best (and others) are breaking the news that ESPN is going to add one of its worst analysts to its Sunday night broadcasts.
Yep, it's going to be a three-man booth with Jon Miller, Joe Morgan, and Steve Phillips. STEVE PHILLIPS.
Yes, the man whom ESPN had host a series of mock press conferences and later forced people like Buster Olney to pretend they were asking him real questions. The man who drove the Mets to new heights with key acquisitions like Mo Vaughn, Jeromy Burnitz, and Roger Cedeno.
I now look forward to watching Sunday Night Baseball with the SAP channel. Or the mute button.
My disbelief at this development has surpassed my ability to come up with snarky metaphors to describe it.
Think of the most horrible possible combination of sports announcers. Then double it. Then triple it. And you still won't surpass Morgan and Phillips for idiocy.
I'm just going to multiply the most horrible possible combination of sports announcers by a factor of 6, and then compare it to Morgan and Phillips for idiocy.
Oddly enough, Steve Phillips doesn't bother me in the booth. Morgan and Miller on the other hand? My God....between John's over-annunciation of ever Latin players name and Joe's tired analysis of every pitcher "He needs to keep the ball down"...Phillps sounds like a genius by comparison.
they should have a rotating cast of former baseball players who now work for espn--Hershiser, Kruk, and Sutcliffe. The only stipulation is the former player must take a shot of whiskey for each time Morgan says something stupid or when Miller does a lame impression.
I've decided that what ESPN needs to do is show up at the stadium each week, pick two people from random out of the crowd and tell them that they get to call the game, just avoid the seven words you can't say on television. Either that or get Harry Doyle to call the games.
I wouldn't want to let Steve Phillips anywhere near the front office of my favorite team, but as an on-air personality, I gave him my coveted "not completely horrible" rating. I started hating Morgan, on the other hand, before it was cool to hate Morgan.
1 Mr. Morgan, I thought you'd have used a screen name like "awesomecano" or "consistancy2009"; was Gagne55 intended to throw us off the trail you sly dog?
MLB 2K8 features Miller and Morgan as announcers. I wonder if Phillips will join them for the next version?
Incidentally, you can use Hall of Fame players in the game, including Joe Morgan. I think he missed out on a great opportunity to provide some hilarity when announcing plays involving himself.
Or the firing squad.
Ugh.
And Rick Monday, for the score.
and Rick Sutcliffe drooling over Erin Andrews (figuratively)

He was clocked at 95 mph, with a BAC of 0.155, and also admitted he had smoked pot earlier in the day.

Still, I now have yet another reason to watch the game on mute.
Sounds like someone took negotiating tips from Dave's House of Deals. I hope that $4 pen was worth it!
