The NL West: Improved in 2006 or your money back?
2005-12-12 13:17
by Bob Timmermann

That's what Joseph A. Reaves in the Arizona Republic thinks.

As someone who watched a lot of the NL West in 2005, I'm not all that optimistic it will be that much fun to watch. The NL West in 2005 was like watching a car wreck except everybody was riding around on a Segway and talking on a cell phone. There was just no way to root for any team.

The NL West is baseball's equivalent of the Sun Belt conference in college football.

Nah, it's more like the Big East. Last I checked, the NL West is still a BCS conference. Too bad the Padres got steamrolled in their bowl game last year.

Georgia right now is favored by 7.5 over West Virginia.
The biggest favorite now is Southern Mississippi favored by 17.5 over Arkansas State in the New Orleans Bowl.
Which will not be played in New Orleans.

UCLA is favored by 3 over Northwestern in the Sun Bowl and that has the biggest over/under - 74.5. The Rose Bowl is at 71.5.

I think the Rose Bowl will have more points than the Sun Bowl.

I was on a plane recently and they had an "inflight" tv feature with Peter Gabriel. I was a maximo Peter Gabriel fan has a youth; had the big "melt" poster on my wall; knew the words to lamb lies down on broadway, etc. Anyways, he look purty, shall we say, old. Hmmm I thought, as it was the day before my birthday, perhaps I'm old too. Fine. Then, it turns out that for most of the concert footage they included, he was toodling around the stage on a Segway. Old an wierd, huh? Fair enough.
