The least popular owner in baseball?

by Bob Timmermann

Right now, Jeffrey Loria and David Samson of the Marlins are not endearing themselves to the South Florida locals.

Recipe for disaster:
1) Out of town owner
2) Trade Paul Lo Duca

Mix well, season.

Why the heck did Loria swap the Expos for the Marlins? Owning the DC team looks like it would have been and continue to be a blast.

At the time that was going on, I don't think there was any guarantee that the Expos would end up in DC. It seemed more likely at the time that they would be contracted. The Marlins had to look better at that point.
