I really think it is interesting that Hollywood feels it necessary to "Americanize" Nick Hornby's work while his Brit books are bestsellers here in the new world. Fever Pitch was originally a book about soccer not baseball. High Fidelity was originally set in London not Chicago. And a significant part of About a Boy was regarding the boy's mother who committed suicide not someone who smiles and miraculously recovers from her manic depression.
