Koji Uehara is expected to start for Japan. I can't find out who will start for China, but don't get emotionally attached to him as the guy won't be out there long.
In the opener, Korea beat Taiwan 2-0 in the opener before 5,193 at the Tokyo Dome. Expect a bigger crowd with the home country team playing and the game starting at night, 6:30 pm Tokyo time.
As for me, I plan on finding out the score when I wake up.
First shot, before going to the highlights of the first game, is Tommy Lasorda jabbering at Ichiro. Ichiro is fidgeting, and pretending to be somewhere else. Bad omen.
So, not too surprised, maybe. 6-2, top 5th. Nishioka wastes Kawasaki's SB with a three run HR. Peculiarly, it didn't kill the rally; Fukudome goes back to back (his first hit of the game).
I do want to see the evil Chinese uniforms on TV at some point though, thanks to whoever linked us to their hats over on DT.
But at least there is no Bob Costas calling the WBC!
18-2 final.
I think China is going to get more of the same tonight against Korea.
