King Kaufman of Salon.com writes about whether or not fantasy sports have made people more interersted in baseball or whether baseball fans are just more interested in the game to begin with.
It's worth watching a brief ad for an online stock trading company.
I don't do fantasy leagues, but I've been playing baseball sims, both table and computer, since I got my first copy of All-Star Baseball back when I was 8 or so. For me it's because I'm more interested in baseball to begin with, rather than the other way around. One thing I will say is that playing sims made me aware of far more players (and their abilities) than I otherwise would've had I not played the games. I suspect this would also probably be true if I played fantasy baseball.
I am an avid fantasy sports participant as many of you are well aware of. I find entertaining the process of trying to build a successful team bound by the league configuration used. Fantasy sports hasn't made me a bigger fan of the sport, but like the previous poster it has made me much more aware of players that I would otherwise know very little or nothing about. I consider fantasy sports a hobby, just like I considered collecting sports trading cards a hobby as a kid. vr, Xei
The best part of fantasy is for the fans who breathe and live ball but have to see their crappy teams out of the pennant race by mid May since their ownership's main purpose is to turn a hefty profit...
