Zambrano done for the year

by Bob Timmermann

Relax Cubs fan, it's Victor Zambrano of the Mets who is out for the year. Zambrano has a torn tendon in his elbow.

Jose Lima is starting for the Mets today.

I believe this is known as a short-term solution.

time to sit back, relax, and enjoy the fireworks show known as "lima time". :)

I was just gonna tell the masses about that. I went out to the kitchen to make breakfast, turned on the Mets game, and what do my wondering eyes should appear but Lima on the mound, blond modified 'fro and all.

Gah. "To my wondering eyes"

Nothing worse than trying to be funny and screwing it up.

What happened at the play at the plate where the Braves scored a run and Lo Duca was charged with an error and then was ejected and then Bobby Cox was ejected too?

Missed it. My computer's not in the kitchen next to the toaster, which it would have to be for me to see that and read your material contemporaneously.

5 The Braves had runners on 1st and 3rd and Smoltz missed the squeeze sign. The runner on 3rd headed home and Smoltz made soft contact. The ball bounced about 10 feet from the plate, right between LoDuca and Lima. LoDuca barehanded it and dove back to the runner to tag him. The home plate ump called the runner safe and LoDuca spiked the ball and started displaying his heart and soul to the ump...he was immediately ejected. The runner at 1st made his way to 3rd and Smoltz trotten into 2nd. The umps told Smoltz to go back to 1st and Cox came out to argue that Smoltz should be awarded 2nd. That's when Cox was ejected.

None of the 3 replay angles were that great, but to me it looked like LoDuca tagged the runner on his thigh or ankle (if he missed the tag on the thigh). The Braves' analyst also thought LoDuca made the tag.

On a side note...what's up with Lima Time's hair?

Actually, that comment was supposed to refer to 4. I'll blame it on Lima's bleach blonde 'fro.
