Love it, hate it, have no opinion, novelty has worn off, fun to watch... take your pick.
One thing is for certain. There is interleague baseball this weekend. Except for fans of Atlanta and Arizona.
There are intracity rivalries: Yankees at Mets, Cubs at White Sox
There are intra-metropolitan area rivalries: Angels at Dodgers, Giants at Athletics, Orioles at Nationals
There are intrastate rivalries: Cardinals at Royals, Marlins at Devil Rays, Rangers at Astros
There is a rivalry between cities that aren't far apart: Pirates at Indians
There are rivalry between cities where people speak with really long vowels: Twins at Brewers
And then there are the rest: Red Sox at Phillies (rematch of 1915 World Series), Reds at Tigers (rematch of 1940 World Series, winner gets the right to have Sparky Anderson buried in their stadium), Blue Jays at Rockies (Hey, we both have ugly black uniforms!), and Padres at Mariners (Between the two of them, they've won one World Series game!)
One of the biggest complaints about interleague play is that it makes the schedule unbalanced. So for your own study, here's who everybody plays. All the series scheduled are three games.
will this post get updated all weekend so's I can report after tomorrow's game??
Oh, and Francona is a much better manager than Cholly, although a lot of that is just more talent to work with.
