Jeff Passan of Yahoo! Sports tries to make sense of MLB's TV blackout policies.
Passan tries, but his attempt is futile as he discovers that searching for reason in an inherently illogical system only serves to give you a headache.
For a while back a few years ago we got all the West Coast teams on a precursor to Fox Sports West in some kind of rotation (planned or random, I don't know). We'd occasionally see the Padres and the Mariners and the Giants, in addition to the LA teams. Not anymore.
It's a mess, but when has baseball's ownership situation not been a mess?
I was in San Francisco last weekend, and I was really hoping the Giants-A's game on Fox would be blacked out so I could watch the Dodgers. No such luck. That I got to watch Bonds hit 714 made it even worse.
I saw Cain's one-hitter in person on Sunday, too. I am really bad luck for the A's.
I wanted the A's to win. I mean, I was sitting with a woman wearing a green wig and gold antennae. I was praying for the A's to win... Although now that I think of it, given my strained relationship with the almighty, that's what probably did the trick.
Sorry, Ken. I'll just change the channel, shall I?

Oh wow. I don't often find a use for the hoary Internet abbreviation LOL, but this time...
