WC 2006: Togo loses game and coach ... again
2006-06-13 14:22
by Bob Timmermann

The topsy turvy tale of Togo continues.

Otto Pfister coached today's loss against Korea. He quit on Saturday. He coached Tuesday. And I think he got fired afterwards.

I would not bet on Togo in its remaining two matches.

"Maybe that explains why five minutes after his team had lost to South Korea 2-1 on Tuesday, Pfister was still sitting on his bench, while everyone around him was leaving the field. He was savoring what will likely be the only World Cup game he ever coached."

Wasn't Pfister the Saudi Arabia manager in the '98 WC?

I think the Saudis fired him before the tournament started.

Gotta love a guy who keeps losing his job at crunch time.
