Wait a sec - you mean Liriano was not on the original roster? How did that happen?

Travis Hafner anyone?

I want the Sox and Tribe to get in a brawl just so Hafner can pound Guillen for this. In fact, I heard somewhere that Hafner said they should put the final ballot guys in a steel cage and have them battle it out. His point was that he wants it so bad he'd win. I think he'd win because he's built like the Thing, but either way, I'd be fine with the result.

Non-Chicago AL Central All-Stars:

Ivan Rodriguez
Joe Mauer
Grady Sizemore
Magglio Ordonez
Kenny Rogers
Francisco Liriano
Mark Redman
Johan Santana

That's it. Eight players. And before Guillen selected Ordonez and Liriano, there were six from the entire division minus Chicago.

The White Sox have seven all-stars:

Pierzynski
Konerko
Thome
Dye
Buehrle
Contreras
Jenks

To the victors, go the spoils.

As in: Gee, I hopes Ozzie don't spoils the AL's chances by picking too many of his own players.

The AL West orignally had only 4 players - one from each team - before Guillen added Matthews and Lopez to bring the total to 6.

I think the players vote added those two guys.

Which may show why the players aren't much better at voting for All-Stars either.

And I'm still waiting for the NY Times correction of Rhoden's column about George Crowe.

That's Bob's Quixotic Battle #235

It is pretty absurd that Hafner's 1.112 OPS is not in the All-Star game.
