Cubs catcher Michael Barrett will likely miss the rest of the season after having surgery to repair a groin injury suffered during Saturday's game. Matt Cain of the Giants fouled a pitch off and it hit Barrett in the groin and it did enough damage that it had to be treated immediately with surgery. (It's actually a bit more graphic than that, but you can click on the link to read about it.) Buck Coats was recalled, but the catchers will be Henry Blanco and Geovany Soto the rest of the way it appears.
In far less painful news, the Phillies activated closer Tom Gordon from the DL before today's doubleheader, so Arthur Rhodes can be kept out of the ninth inning for the time being.
if i where Barrett i'm buy one made of steel.
When will Dusty be "missing the rest of the season"? Cannot wait.
"You're with me, Barrett."
