Three other pitchers out for the year
2006-09-13 17:06
by Bob Timmermann

With Francisco Liriano likely out for the season, three other pitchers also were announced as being out for the season.

Armando Benitez will miss the rest of the year for the Giants with a right knee injury. Mike Stanton will likely keep the closer role for San Francisco.

Glendon Rusch was hospitalized with a blood clot in his lung, which was not considered life-threatening, but it will keep him out for the rest of the year.

Another pitcher playing it safe will be Rafael Soriano of the Mariners, who will not return after missing time after being hit in the head by a line drive off the bat of Vladimir Guerrero.
