Today the Milwaukee Brewers became the tenth team to be eliminated from playoff consideration. They now cannot win more games than the first place Cardinals and cannot win the wild card either as the Dodgers and Phillies both have 79 wins, one more than the Brewers can possibly win.
Milwaukee Brewers 2006 playoff hopes
Born: April 3, 2006
Died: September 20, 2006
The Brewers season was marked by high hopes with promising players such as Ben Sheets, Prince Fielder, Rickie Weeks, and Bill Hall, among others, but the season ran aground after the All-Star break as injuries and an inconsistent to downright bad bullpen caused the team to succumb to terminal mediocrity. A 10-game losing streak at the end of August and beginning of September provided a fatal blow from which the team could not recover. The cause of death was ultimately ruled to Excessive Wisconsinness, a disease caused by excessive tailgating and an inordinate fixation on the career of Brett Favre.
The team is survived by several good young players and several costumed sausages. Visitation will be from September 21-24 at Miller Park. In lieu of flowers, the Brewers request that you just drink beer.
Who knew they were of Irish descent?
Way ahead of ya there, Brewers.
JP's master plan is ahead of schedule then!
