Johnson of the Marlins likely done for the year

by Bob Timmermann

Josh Johnson of Florida will likely be put on the shelf for the rest of the season with a right forearm strain.

Johnson had an excellent rookie year, going 12-7 with a 3.10 ERA. Johnson will finish the season with 157 IP, so he won't be listed among the ERA leaders at season's end.

Chris Carpenter of the Cardinals leads the NL at 2.79, so it would have been pretty hard for Johnson to make up that deficit. Brandon Webb is at 2.92 and Roy Oswalt is at 3.05.

Ah but what if he went on a Bulldogian streak from here on out?

...probably still too late. Nvm.

Perhaps you missed the part about Johnson not pitching any more....

Right forearm strain? Back in my day pitchers played through injuries like...woah, Johnson is only 9 months older than I am. Forget that then.
