O's fans stage walkout
2006-09-21 16:00
by Bob Timmermann

A group of nearly 1000 angry Orioles fans walked out of Baltimore's game today to protest the lousy way the team has been run, according to this AP report.

The walkout was organized by a local radio host, Nestor Aparicio, the nephew of Luis Aparicio.

The Orioles are in their ninth-straight losing season. However, the walkout must have helped today. The Orioles beat the Tigers 4-3.

As a counterpoint, MLB.com has a story on Bobby Abreu who has ended his nine-year long playoff drought. The story almost made me cry. Well, it made me feel something. But I don't think it was an emotion. I never realized that Abreu could have been this century's Ernie Banks. And Abreu had already played in the postseason once before!

What about Carlos Delgado and Mr. Heart and Soul (who got robbed in 2004), don't they get any love?

Yeah really, isn't Delgado's streak something like twice as long as Bobby the Unclutch's?

Tell the Mets beat writer for MLB.com to whip up a sob story and put it on the front page then.
