The view from Japan of the NLCS

So Taguchi is a very popular man in Japan right now.

The friends I am staying with asked me why he did not play so much. I said "He can't hit Billy Wagner."

I will say no more.

The ALCS games here are shown on tape delay (the day ones), but you already know who has won.

A graphic on a news program showed the four teams playing in the LCS depicted with an A's logo, a Tigers logo, a Mets logo, and a picture of So Taguchi.

What are they thinking about Godzilla Matsui these days Bob? Is there as much Yankee angst as there was stateside, is he back in the country yet, how is the wrist, etc etc?

I was told by my friends that Matsui doesn't come back to Japan much and is pretty much a year-round New Yorker.

The Yankees are still the most followed team in Japan. Seattle is second. St. Louis is only being followed now because it's the last team left with a Japanese player.
