From where I'm sitting in the second deck, it looks pretty good to me, though the temperature has dropped markedly in the past 15 minutes. The thermometer here says 40 degrees. Both teams took bp and the tarp has been off for hours. The grounds crew is hosing down the infield as I type. So I'm going to say, Game On!
I think it's just you. I'm not near a TV, but the satellite map on weather.com shows a huge front plopped right over St. Louis. I doubt they can play tomorrow night either.
Game 4&5 in St. Louis this weekend when the weather looks better. Monday looks good for Detroit, but then rain "returns to the forecast" Tuesday and Wednesday.
If this series goes 7 games, the last game might be as late as Thursday, November 2nd. But I figure by Monday, Fox will be demanding the games be moved to the daytime so it can proceed with "Prison Break," "House" and other shows its demographic actually watches.
That differs sharply from a) the radar I've seen on wunderground.com and b) my own eyes. They're starting this game. Suppan and Bonderman are in the bullpens throwing, and rain does not appear imminent. This game is starting at 7:27 Central time.
By the way, if you wrote a ballot initiative, bankrolled it, and spent countless hours of your life trying to get it enacted in to law, how irritated would you be that it got called prop 87? It's like the guy trying to fill Foley's seat who has to convince people to mark the box next to Foley's name.
D4P grows his own vegetables in a communal garden and his wife knits hemp into clothing for him. The only commerce he perpetrates is buying bottled water.
One of the neat things about the initiative process is that you hardly have to spend any time on it at all. How much time does it take to write those three extra zeroes on the check?
50- My only frame of reference is Ward Connerly, who seems to spend much of his life pushing initiatives. I assumed they were all like that, which does seem a little dumb, in retrospect.
Although, countless could mean zero as easily as too many to measure. . .
Today's World Series fact: One of my uncles was in the same high school class as Red Schoendienst. My father went to high school with one of Red's younger brothers.
Pretty much all of the Schoendiensts had red hair.
The initiative process is remarkably mechanistic -- money = access to key petition gathering businesses = place on the ballot. Then they all fail in November.
By the way, Schoendienst is still alive - and quite spry I might add - so it should be "is my uncle" rather than "was my uncle," unless, of course, you've been disowned. His niece sang God Bless America at the seventh inning stretch. and Ozzie Smith's son sang the anthem. It's family night at Busch!
Not very interesting tidbit. On Sunday night, I rode a shuttle bus back to my parking lot to pick up my car at LAX with "Standoff" star Ron Livingston.
# Tomorrow: Cloudy with rain likely. A thundershower is possible as well, especially in the morning. High near 50F. Winds NNE at 10 to 20 mph. Chance of rain 90%. Rainfall around a half an inch.
# Tomorrow night: Rain early. Decreasing clouds late. Low 41F. Winds NW at 10 to 20 mph. Chance of rain 80%.
Verlander vs Weaver in game 5?
Anybody surprised that Rogers wasn't moved up to game 5, especially now that they are down 3-1. What if tomorrow is a rainout? Would Leyland dare move Rogers up to game 5? I guess the logic against doing it would be that Verlander, Rogers and probably Robertson would all have to win a game anyways.
vr, Xei
115. Yep, defense. My simulator (1000 game sample size) had game 4 as a tossup and in the end it pretty much was, but you are right that Detroit's defense (once again) let them down. vr, Xei

The radar I'm looking at doesn't show anything over St. Louis...
I use weatherunderground as well.
I hope Bob (aka bobsbrother's brother) didn't go to the movies...
Joe Buck is at the game, so we are not a buck short.
It's punishible by law in 34 states.
Red states, no doubt...
I think Suppan's position would be stronger, if he hadn't appeared with Scooter earlier. I think Scooter is not a good "thing" to have on your side.
That's for sure
Thank you. I worked a long time doing the research on that.
You didn't get my John Hancock.
I just don't go to Target
But I'm trying to cut back. My car runs on hydrogen, and I'm collecting the water vapor exhaust for domestic uses...
Kneel before Zod!
(Actually, our 16-year old car runs on gasoline...)
A very simple "What the f---?"
He's probably more of a K candidate.
Too many. They need to trade us a couple for Mark Hendrickson. The Tigers need that kind of a weapon in their arsenal.
Wow, I feel so prescient!

stone him!!
tossing salad is Hendy's middle name

Sounds like a question for the Uni Watch blog linked over on the sidebar.
I recall Royce Clayton as being one of the first players to wear one. Ronnie Belliard wears one also.
Pretty much all of the Schoendiensts had red hair.
that's pretty cool
i'll take that back, i shouldn't feel bad for a guy that throws major heat
By which you mean it's broken
if it ain't broke don't fix it? [crickets]
When a man wants a bunt, he wants a bunt.
I said One of my uncles was in the same high school class as Red Schoendienst.
I believe that statement is true and gramatically correct.
Oh, an you should call your oldest brother tomorrow.
I more used to be criticized by members of my own family.
Is that "Peter" of Office Space lore...?
this is the first time i ever watch the show.
Yes, that guy.
He was wearing a White Sox cap. He left his car with a valet. I left mine outside. My car was very dirty.
Haha nice local news sign, and did we just get through a commercial break with NO Mellencamp??
from what i remember he stole something like 26 bases a couple of years back
People forget that Lou Brock was Lonnie Smith in the field.
ATTENTION DETROIT HITTERS: If the pitch from Wainwright starts at your eye level, it's going to drop down into the strike zone.

Which is kind of frightening.
