Did Guillermo Mota donate?
2007-01-22 19:50
by Bob Timmermann

The Mets held a blood drive at Shea Stadium and gave all people who donated a pint of blood two free tickets to an April game.

Would you give up blood to see the Washington Nationals play at Shea (April 13-15)? Shouldn't you be given blood instead if you have to see that matchup?

Guillermo Mota's blood has been suspended for 50 days.

I would settle for sucking the blood of Paul Lo Duca.

John Thomson doesn't like Paul Lo Duca's blood.

Watching Steve Trachsel pitch is a little bit like giving blood.

For four hours.

My girlfriend's an English major, and she noted an extraneous comma in the first paragraph after the word blood. She was saying people should know better. I told her you were a librarian, and she said she gave up on the American people and the English language.

But in all fairness, I almost wrote languange instead of language.

What extraneous comma?

There is no extraneous comma.

These aren't the droids you're looking for.

Yknow, I've given blood several times in the last few years and I don't seem to remember there being any steroids on the bad lists they read off to ya...

and Bob and/or Ravenscar, didn't they hold blood drives in the Shea parking lots right after 9/11?

Although not explicitly stated, I would think most blood banks would not look kindly on a donation of blood that contained anabolic steroids. Or HGH.

If you figure that the person already receiving the blood is sick, I don't think that a hefty dose of HGH is what I want when I'm having open heart surgery.

The Nats will be bloody enough for all of us by then. I have to believe the Nats are looking at 100 loses easy and maybe 110.

8 - Maybe Acta will play Ryan Church.

But they do need pitching. They need it like the Giants need their Depends.

[soapbox] You're only supposed to give blood because it's the right thing to do. Selling blood or giving it for baseball tickets is really kind of, um, bad [/soapbox]

Somewhere in New York an anemic youngster receives Guillermo Mota's blood and develops a sudden hatred for Mike Piazza.

10 - Would you refuse blood if it was only donated because of the promised baseball tickets? Please answer the question on your touch tone phone.

1 - yes
2 - no
3 - maybe so
4 - I don't know

Steroids aren't explicitly mentioned, but they fall under the category of needle drugs, which are.

Was there a guest appearance by former Met Joel (now not quite so) Youngblood?
