And who will be their Madelyn Kahn?

"Pardon me, is everybody here? Because if everybody's here, I
want to thank you all for coming to the ballpark, I'd appreciate
your going even more, I mean you must have lots of better things
to do, and not a word of this to Jeff, remember Jeff, you know,
the man who used to own us, but then he left and moved the team to Foggy Bottom --
Thank you all
For the gifts and the flowers,
Thank you all,
Now it's back to the showers,
Don't tell Jeff
But we're not playing baseball today."

The Expos fans loved their mascot, Youppi, more than they loved the team. Every year at Olympic Stadium they would celebrate Youppi's birthday. It always got good crowds. Meaning over 10000 people.
Youppi lives on. He was "adopted" by the Montreal Canadiens and is now their mascot. I guess, deep down, something about him embodies part of the Quebecois psyche.
I've never seen him eat poutine however. Even mascots have limits.

Well, for what it's worth, if you tour Olympic Stadium, you do see a patch of the old astroturf...

There is little to no reminders that the Expos played in Montreal, either at Stade Olympique, or Parc Jarry (Stade Uniprix), which has been converted to a tennis complex.

I am still annoyed at the way MLB handled the Expos. If baseball could survive in Cleveland, it can survive anywhere.
