The New York Yankees beat the Toronto Blue Jays 9-2 tonight and that eliminated

 Baltimore and ...

Kansas City.

The Yankees now have 82 wins and the Orioles and Royals both have 81 losses.

If the Yankees keep knocking off teams in the regular season, and then somehow advance to the World Series, would it be possible they set the record (at least since divisional play started) of eliminating all teams in their league? Or has that happened before?

I bet the Yankees did it a lot in the 8-team version of the AL.
