MLB president and chief operating officer Bob DuPuy has announced that Major League Baseball should finish the 2007 year with about $6 billion in revenue. This is almost the same total as the NFL took in during 2006, according to a report by Chris Isidore on CNNMoney.com.
DuPuy pointed to increases in revenue from MLB.com as well as the growth of the online ticket resale market as major contributors to baseball's financial health.
So with the free agent season coming up after the World Series ends, don't be surprised to see players receiving salaries that will make your head spin.

I will praise Bud Selig for MLB.Com/multimedia he really hit a home run with this.
2 - Yeah, and if you buy tickets for anything through Tickets.com, whether it's the London Symphony Orchestra in Amsterdam or Disney on Ice in Albany, all 30 owners get a cut.
The next step will be for the clubs to hold back a good number of the premium seats and instead of selling them as season tickets, use the outlets like StubHub to set the prices. Seems silly for the ticket brokers to get the extra money when it could be the teams themselves.
It took MLB 100 years to figure out that they can get different prices for a seat behind the dugout as opposed to the foul pole even if they are on the same level. The next wave of prices won't be kind or take so long.
