Managers of the Year
2007-11-14 10:45
by Bob Timmermann

I'm guessing that if you click here after 11 am PT, you will find out that Eric Wedge was named AL Manager of the Year. (I was right!)

And if you click here after 11 am PT, you will find out that Clint Hurdle was named NL Manager of the Year. Or maybe Bob Melvin. (In the end, I hedged between Melvin and Hurdle and Melvin won.)

Good thing you hedged, cause Hurdle finished 3rd. At least the top four were the four playoff teams.

Speaking as a Rockies fan, I think Melvin was probably the better choice. Hurdle's management this season, as Mark TR Donohue pointed out repeatedly, was the triumph of sheer dumb luck.

What? No Grady Little? Just because of a little bit of clubhouse infighting that provided an incredible distraction and would cost him his job as it possibly contributed to a month of poor play that dropped a playoff contender into fourth-place?

Just that?

Can I sue the BBWAA for damage to my retinas?

...4... let's make it a class action.

To think some of those "writers" have HOF ballots!

I cannot believe that a professional organization has a website as bad as that. Wow.
