The Red Sox now have the player who is first in alphabetical order alltime in the majors, David Aardsma. Boston acquired him from the White Sox in exchange for Willy Mota and Miguel Socolovich.

Theo Epstein, when will your insatiable desire to be first in everything be sated?

I used to love it that the best player in baseball was the 1st player in the alphabetic listing except for when his brother got in the way.

I've always drawn solace from the fact that in the baseball encyclopedia, where hitters and pitchers are separate (and where hitters come first), Hank Aaron still bats leadoff.
