From Taiwan:

So Canada, Taiwan, and Korea are 2-0, Germany and Australia are 1-1, South Africa, Mexico, and Spain are 0-2. The top three advance to Beijing.

Why does Mexico do so badly, when they play baseball there? Is everyone good already in pro baseball and ineligible? Or special circumstances?

Presumably Mexico's best players are in MLB training camps.

1 well they lost to Canada and Taiwan, two country that's basically in the same league as country with serious players in the major leagues , Taiwan also has it's own pro league and Canada.. well you know.

from what i saw, Mexico is carrying a very old team though, most of their guys are well over 30, they have KARIM GARCIA playing CF and hitting 3rd.

Taiwan has a few of their minor leaguers in the US on the team, but most of them are kids in the low minors. the once in higher minors or in the majors are not on the team. nor is Chen Chin Feng, the ex-Dodger prospect who has been the premier hitter for Taiwan for most of the decade (had to quit the team because of back injury)

Taiwan beat Germany today 2-0 , Germany gave it a surprisingly good effort. but Taiwan's pitching is looking crazy good so far. they're carrying A LOT of young pitchers this time around with only a couple of experienced vets. a lot of their pitchers are 20-22 year old kids. (But throws crazy hard) the starter today was Chang Zhi Jia. one of those vets, he was a teammate of Matsuzaka in Japan and was actually quiet good for awhile before injury and derailed him. looked pretty sharp today after the first inning.
